Voyage by Makinley D.

I let down the walls
Of my heart,
So you could set sail
On your expedition
Of exploration.
I crashed down the border
hiding my feelings
so you could endure it all
right along with me:
hurt, pain, happiness, anxiety.
I let every bit of my guard down,
For your long waited voyage
That we hoped would last a lifetime,
though we both truly knew
it wouldn’t.
I allowed you
to pull back the gauze
on my fresh wounds,
to take a peek,
though I knew you couldn’t
fix me.
